The second-hand marketplace Users Express Frustration About Size Changes
Members of the platform have expressed outrage due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.
This online marketplace has updated its size classifications for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all users about the change.
Online Platforms Response
Countless users and merchants have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present a different size category versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.
The company said the new system was more in line with other platforms.
It has advised users to review their products and manually change the size if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction.
Sizing System Updates
Previously, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Experiences
A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as size 20β22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she said.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, located in England, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing".
"This situation is especially annoying, because of my ongoing medical condition and platform income has been essential following partial earnings loss," she said.
Platform Context
The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.
It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change to the app has proved unpopular: previously, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
